The REAL chapter eight
Hope this works!!!!!
“Kieyra! Code red! Code red!” Kate yelled at the top of her lungs. Of course, none of our campers new what a code red was, so they all panicked. “Relax! Don’t panic! Code red means parents are here!” everyone stopped running. “Stay where you are, and when I call ‘code red over!’ you may resume the challenge.” Kate ran up to me. “Kieyra, your mom is here. With three teenage girls and Nathen. And that can’t be good.” I ran towards the driveway, throwing on a “Camp Gottagrin ” (The name we made up) t-shirt. “Hey, mom.” I said. “Sweetie, I have a date tonight! And with the most wonderful man! His name is Dave Wilkins.” “That’s great mom, but…uh…who are they?” The first girl was older, probably in grade 11 or 12. She had long blonde hair that flowed all the way down her back, and sparkly green eyes. The two other girls were around my age, and they looked alike with the same green eyes, except one of them had long brown hair, and the other had long blonde hair like the older one. “Oh…the girls. This is Sarah-” she pointed to the older girl- “This is Annabelle-” she pointed to the one with blonde hair- “and this is Katherine.” That was the one with brown hair. “Anna and Katie are twins, thirteen like you, and Sarah’s seventeen, in grade eleven. They’re Dave’s kids. “We’re hardly children.” Annabelle said, and her sisters agreed. “Katie says that she’s a-” Katherine covered Nathen’s mouth. After Katherine released her hand, he said, “It’s okay, Kieyra says she’s one too.” I flinched. “One what, Nathen?” I asked. “A monster.” He replied, “A scary monster.” Katherine stared at me. I stared at Katherine and Annabelle and Sarah, all at once. My eyes flickered from one sibling to another, and it probably looked like my eyes were vibrating. “And why are they here?” I finally asked. “Oh, we’re leaving them here while I go out with Dave.” “But you can’t leave me here with Nathen!” “Sure you can, sweetie! There are counselors here that can take care of him, right?” “Yes, um, there are. Amanda and Leah can, can’t they?” My mom shook her head. “Are there any adult supervisors?” I paused for a while. “Sure there are. There’s Kat and Stef.” I said, not even realizing what had just come out of my stupid adolescent mouth. Thankfully, she didn’t realize that I had just implied that Kat meant Katherine P. and Stef meant a guy named Stefan from a TV show I like. “Oh, okay. Tell Kat and Stef I said hi, and thank you for taking care of Nathen.” She drove off in her car. “This is lame.” Sarah said, twirling her long hair around her finger. “Don’t be so negative, Sarah. Ignore my sister, Kieyra. I do.” Annabelle said. “Call me Anna. You can call Katherine Katherine or Katie or Kat or whatever the heck you want.” Anna said, and Katherine nodded in agreement. “Does Katherine ever talk?” I asked. “Yeah, I do. I can speak for myself, thank you very much.” Katherine said sarcastically. “Ignore Kat’s sarcasm, and we’ll all be great friends. Except for Sarah, of course.” Sarah scowled. “Yeah, sure. Ignore the sensible one.” Sarah mumbled. “So who are Kat and Stef?” Anna asked. “Honestly?” I asked. Anna nodded her head. “They don’t exist.” “You weren’t implying Katherine Pierce or Stefan Salvatore, were you?” Anna asked. “No, of course not. That’d be stupid; they’re not real. That’s only a TV show. Why are you guy’s fans?” “The Vampire Diaries is so overrated.” Sarah said, walking away. “She’s only saying that because she’s not named after a character. Our mom’s name is Isobel, like the main character’s birth mother, my name’s Anna, like that weird Pearl lady’s Daughter, and Katie’s name is Katherine, enough said. I can tell we’re gonna be great friends.” Anna smiled. Katherine faked a smile, but it was so obviously fake because it was just so awkward. “Hey, Anna, why don’t you go play with Nathen over in the sand pit?” I pointed to a large mound of sand by a play structure. “Sure thing.” Anna walked over to the sand pit with Nate. “Okay, what did Nathen mean when he said scary monster, Katie?” Katherine stayed silent. “Come on, just tell me.” I said. “He thinks my family’s vampires! I mean, how stupid is that?” “Uh, not very. He’s eight, Katie. And it didn’t seem so ridiculous; you weren’t laughing.” “Cause I was embarrassed! Who wouldn’t be after that kind of accusation?” She freaked out at me, but I stayed calm. “A vampire. Or me. Same diff.” I shrugged. “You’re implying that you’re a vampire.” She said, disbelievingly. “Yeah, so?” “Why would you say that? We barely know each other!” “You give away things too easily. We’ll have to work on that. And your dad, Dave, is he a vampire too?” She nodded. “If we have to, we’ll start giving your mom vervain.” Katie said. “Katie. Katie, Katie. You should know I’ll always be two steps ahead of you. She’s already taking it daily with ‘Recommended vitamins that everyone should be taking for vitamin c and d.’ ” I said. Katie smiled. “Okay, let’s start over. Hi. I’m Katherine Caroline Isabella Wilkins. And you are?” “I’m Kieyra Katherine Mary Gordon. Nice to meet you, Katherine.” “Nice to meet you too, Kieyra.” We shook hands elegantly and laughed. “Who are we kidding; we weren’t born in the 1800s! Sup, Kieyra, sup?” We laughed again. “Nothing, my home skillin’ biscuit! Sup, dog?” We laughed hysterically and rolled around on the ground, dirtying my Camp T-shirt and her American Eagle top. Anna walked over to us. “We better get going. Nathen really wants to go into the woods, and if he doesn’t he’ll have a fit.” Anna said. “The first thirteen years of my life, recapped.” I said. Sarah stood at the end of the driveway, talking to some guy. “Let’s ditch her.” Katherine finally said. We all skipped into the forest, Nathen in between me and Anna, me in between Nathen and Katherine, hand in hand.
“Kieyra! Wow, your mom moves fast!!;P These girls sound very interesting. How is your character going to manage Nathen and the camp? There are a lot of Katherines....is that significant? Does your mom know she is taking vervain??? Should I be taking vervain???????????????? Great job! Keep going...what happens next? What happens in the woods? What happens to your mom? to Nathen?
